The CHIOCCIOLA started up in 1989, an important year for wine and food, the culture of food, wine and living SLOW. Indeed, it was the year when SLOW FOOD was born and the CHIOCCIOLA (SNAIL) is the natural expression in Cuneo.
This now historical tavern is located just behind the arcades of the city. A sign says “Cucina, Mescita e Asporto” meaning Cuisine, Wine Bar and Takeaway and you are literally “barraged” by an infinity of labels: there are bottles of wine from every corner of the world and naturally, Piedmont and Langa have the lion’s share. It really is an “exposed” WINE LIST!
On the top floor there is the wonderful dining room with 17th Century coffered ceiling that seats 60 people with well-spaced tables.
The cuisine is entrusted to BEPPE with the help of Livia, Mauro and Ezio.
In the dining room, GIGI is flanked by Romina, Emily and Alice.
The dishes are firmly anchored to tradition and, even with a little digression, the philosophy of the CHIOCCIOLA is to exclusively offer seasonal dishes, trying to keep the flavours as clear as possible.
